Biography

HONG Ihk-pyo, former floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, earned his Ph.D. in political science from Hanyang University and worked as a research fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy. He was a policy advisor at the Ministry of Unification, and adjunct professor at the University of North Korean Studies. After being elected to the National Assembly in 2012, he served three terms and held key party positions such as chief spokesperson, chairperson of the Policy Committee, and director of the Institute for Democracy of the Democratic Party of Korea.
Throughout his tenure, he actively engaged in parliamentary diplomacy, drawing on his experience in inter-korean relations and foreign policy. He also demonstrated his capabilities in various fields by serving as the vice chairperson of the Trade, Industry, and Energy Committee and Public Administration and Security Committee, as well as the chairperson of the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee.
