Biography

Ambassador Theresa DIZON-DE VEGA is a 30-year veteran in the Philippine foreign service, with postings in Mexico, Hong Kong SAR, the United Kingdom, New York USA, Germany, and South Korea. She is currently the Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and was previously Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and Consul General in New York. In her postings, Ambassador Dizon-de Vega while overseeing and articulating the Philippines' policies, advocacies and initiatives in major areas of cooperation and engagement has also undertaken focused engagement with bilateral, regional, and multilateral partners in the areas of Gender and Development, Migration, Climate Change, Green Technology, and Maritime Cooperation. In the Department of Foreign Affairs, she has served as Acting Vice Minister for Administration, heading several of the Foreign Affairs Department's boards on management and operations. She was likewise Chief Coordinator of the Office of the Secretary (Minister) of Foreign Affairs under several Foreign Secretaries of the Philippines. She was educated at the University of Philippines, Queen's University in Canada, the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, and the University of Hong Kong. She speaks Filipino, English, Spanish, French, and German. She is a lawyer by training and a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. She has contributed to various Philippine and international publications and newspapers.
