Biography

Kyung-hwa CHUNG joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea in 2006 and has been working as a diplomat for 14 years, handling various diplomatic issues at headquarters and overseas missions. She worked in Southwest Asia and the Pacific Division, North Korean Nuclear Negotiations Division, Office of Strategic Planning, Southeast Asia Division, the ROK Embassy in Laos and the ROK Embassy in the United Kingdom. She currently serves as director for Green Diplomacy Division and has been participating in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an internationally legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment as a member of the Korean delegation. She studied sustainable development at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Administration and Science Po Paris.
