Nehmat KAUR is Head of Under2 and Subnational Governments at Climate Group. In this role, Nehmat leads the Secretariat of the largest global subnational government network committed to net zero and driving strong climate action across 35 countries. Nehmat joined the Climate Group in April 2018 as Senior Manager, South Asia Government Relations, and then went on to take the role of Head of Global Government Relations.

She is a climate and energy policy expert based in Climate Group’s London offices. Before joining Climate Group, Nehmat was with the Natural Resources Defense Council where she was India Representative for five years, leading evidence-based policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement across several topics, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy access, clean transportation, international climate policy, air quality and climate health and resilience. Globally, she’s worked with key government and private sector stakeholders for more than 15 years.

Nehmat has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Delhi and a master’s in development studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
