Increasing the share of women working at the management level is an important global issue for economic and social development. However, only 3% of management executives were women in Korea as of 2019. This shows how women’s representation in Korea ranks the lowest among OECD member countries. Improving social awareness as well as policy tools to foster female leadership at the management level would be crucial.
Through the Jeju Forum, we aim to share the key questions and problems at stake and discuss successful cases and policies in different countries. We hope to better understand why we need more women leaders and what we can do to help increase women’s management participation level in Korea. The sessions will center around the following questions:
How women’s representation and diversity can influence a firm’s productivity levels? What can be done to improve the share of women’s executives? From the perspective of women executives, what are some of the common challenges that women face? How did other countries overcome similar challenges?
