Trans-Pacific Partnership, once called the “Mega FTA” with 12 nations from the Asia-Pacific area participating, is hitting a hurdle with the inauguration of Donald Trump. As the new administration has officiallyd the withdrawal of TPP under the name of the “America First” principle, the world economy is expecting massive chaos and there is a growing concern arguing that the US may even incline to the renegotiation or even abrogation of bilateral FTA. While the world is raising its voice against US protectionism countering the trend of global free trade, the session discusses the future and sustainability of TPP without the US as well as the prospects and challenges faced by other multilateral trade schemes like the RCEP and CJK FTA.
