This panel explores the new concept of ‘strategic diplomacy,’ which has two meanings: 1) diplomacy that has accentuated strategic rationale with long-term systemic objectives and 2) the diplomatic practices of
negotiating conflicting strategic ideas and priorities. The panelists examine why ‘strategic diplomacy’ is vital to international relations today and explore how it can improve our understanding of vital security issues, inform strategy formulation, and guide the practice of effective diplomacy in Northeast Asia.
