ESG stands for environment, society, and governance, which are indicators of companies' non-financial elements. Recently, ESG becomes more essential for companies in accordance with the growing importance of eco-friendly production processes and demands for the contribution to the sustainability of the society.
Companies that neglect ESG right now would have a significant disadvantage to bear. First of all, stock price management is difficult. For instance, the National Pension Service has announced that they will take into account ESG as a basic principle of investment. Second, collaboration with global companies would become also tough. Companies in the U.S. and Europe are demanding ESG performance when collaborating.
The Korea Economic Magazine has been publishing 'Hankyung ESG' every month since July 2021, starting with a book titled 'ESG: From Concept to Practice'.
