The COVID-19 Crisis, which began to sweep the world in early 2020, caused severe economic damage to many countries. However, while some countries were able to minimize the damage to their economies through swift and appropriate measures, others have suffered huge losses. Nevertheless, as the development and dissemination of COVID-19 vaccines started in 2021, the spread of COVID-19 slowed down and economic recovery began in many countries.
Still, how do we know which countries were able to minimize the economic damage caused by COVID-19 and which countries suffered damage so severe that it will take years to recover? In other words, which countries demonstrated a high level of economic resiliency than others? The Jeju Peace Institute developed and calculated the ‘Economic Resilience Index’ of approximately 80 countries to answer those questions. The Jeju Peace Institute will present the result at the Jeju Forum.
