KINU Unification Survey 2021: How Do South Koreans Think about Unification and North Korea?

The annual KINU Unification Survey aims to survey the perception of unification and North Korea, the evaluation of North Korean policy, the perception of neighboring countries, and current issues of inter-Korean relations. This survey tracks changing patterns of unification and peace perception of South Koreans from 2014 and provides data for the cognitive foundation of sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The KINU Unification Survey’s findings are reported not only by major media at home but also by the international press every year when the outcome is released. The 2021 Survey was conducted from April 25 to May 25, 2021. This survey mainly focuses on the correlation between unification perception and media exposure, a generational discrepancy in perception of unification and North Korean changes in perception of ROK-U.S. relations after Biden won the presidency, and the possibility of inter-Korean COVID-19 prevention cooperation.
This session will announce the findings of the 2021 KINU Unification Survey and hold an in-depth discussion on the perception of unification and North Korea based on the outcomes of time series analysis and regression analysis.
