This panel will be a review session of APLN’s pandemic- nuclear-nexus project, which explored the future of nuclear war and nuclear disarmament in light of the uncertainty created by the global coronavirus pandemic. With sixteen urgent steps on mitigating the rising threat of nuclear war in the era of pandemics in the Asia-Pacific and beyond already set, this panel session will focus on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the health sector and its linkages to broader global challenges.
Experts will elaborate on the nexus of security and the pandemic by discussing topics on international scientific cooperation, launching public health security initiatives, reforming global institutions, enlarging existing city networks, engaging younger generations, solving the DPRK puzzle, and more.
