Biography
Colonel Peter ANKNEY assumed his responsibilities as the Deputy Commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Korea (MARFORK) in June 2025. Commissioned in May 2003, Colonel ANKNEY has built a distinguished career as an infantry officer and operational planner. He has led Marines at multiple levels, serving as a Rifle Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, and Operations Officer for the 25th Marine Regiment. His extensive global operational experience includes multiple combat deployments to Kunar Province, Afghanistan, and Al Anbar Province, Iraq, as well as a humanitarian deployment to Haiti. Colonel ANKNEY is a graduate of both the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the School of Advanced Warfighting. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University-Bozeman, alongside a Master of Military Studies and a Master of Operational Studies from the Marine Corps University.
