Biography
Ambassador LIM Sung Nam spent almost 40 years serving in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea. Most recently, he served as ROK Ambassador to ASEAN in Jakarta until his retirement in December 2021, and before that assignment, served as First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for about three years from October 2015. He also served as Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, focusing on North Korea, and then as Ambassador to the U.K. His other overseas assignments include Washington, D.C., Beijing, New York (U.N.) and Taipei. Ambassador LIM received B.A. and M.A. from Seoul National University and A.M. from Harvard University. He also served as a visiting fellow at the University of Tokyo and the Sejong Institute.
