Biography
Ivan JANCAREK is a senior Czech diplomat with over three decades of experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy. He has served as Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Korea since 2023, and previously as Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, with accreditation to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), as well as Ambassador to Brazil, Denmark, and Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname.
He has held numerous senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Director General for Non‑European Countries, Junior Deputy Minister for Non‑European Countries and Economic Diplomacy, Director of the E.U. Department, and Member of the Czech Negotiating Team for E.U. accession. His earlier career included postings in Sweden, South Africa, Mozambique, and assignments related to the United Nations and election observation missions.
Ambassador JANCAREK holds an M.A. in International Relations from MGIMO (Moscow) and a Law degree from Charles University in Prague. He is fluent in English, Portuguese, Russian, German, Spanish, and French.
