Biography
Dr. Philipp RÖSLER holds management consulting mandates as well as supervisory board memberships in leading Swiss and international companies. He is a Member of the Board of Directors at Bitcoin Suisse, HD Bank in Vietnam, and serves as a Member of the Global Advisory Council of the European Investment Bank.
Philipp started his career as a medical doctor in the German Armed Forces but left the German Bundeswehr as a captain to enter politics in 2003. He served as Chairman of the Free Democratic Party in the German state of Lower Saxony, where he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economics, Labour and Transport. In 2009, he joined the Federal Government of Germany as Minister of Health in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s second cabinet. In 2011, Philipp RÖSLER was elected Chairman of the Free Democratic Party in Germany, assumed the role of Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, and became Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2013, Dr. RÖSLER left politics and joined the Managing Board of the WEF, where he served for four years. He settled in Switzerland with his family in Zurich, where he has since built a strong portfolio of trusted clients and board mandates.
