Peace and Stability through Tourism: Restoring Trust in an Era of Geopolitical Risk
Date- June 24 (Wed.)
Time- 16:30 ~ 17:40
Organization- Jeju Special Self-Governing Province
Room- Seolmundaehalmang Complex, Jeju Stone Park
We are facing a complex set of crises, including the prolonged escalation of geopolitical conflicts, the climate crisis, the restructuring of global supply chains, and uncertainty in international mobility in the post-pandemic era. These crises go beyond mere economic shocks, leading to weakened trust among nations, increased social instability, and deepening regional disparities, thereby undermining the stability of the overall international order.
Tourism is one of the sectors most sensitive to such crisis environments. At the same time, it is also a key field that can contribute to restoring peace and trust by promoting exchanges and mutual understanding between regions.
Through this session, we aim to explore strategies to strengthen the resilience of tourism through cooperation among international organizations, national governments, and local authorities in times of crisis. In addition, we seek to discuss how tourism can contribute to peace, stability, and the restoration of diplomatic trust in an era of geopolitical risk, as well as the future directions of international cooperation to enhance tourism resilience.
