약력
아키라 가와사키(Akira Kawasaki)는 핵무기를 폐기하려는 국제 캠페인(ICAN)의 국제 운영 그룹(International Steering Group)의 회원이며, 그는 평화와 지속 가능한 개발 및 인권을 위해 일하는 유엔 경제 사회 이사회와의 특별 협의 상태에 있는 도쿄 기반의 국제 NGO인 평화 보트의 집행위원이기도 하다.
현재 2003년부터 평화 보트에서 평화 보트 글로벌 대학 프로그램을 통해 평화 교육을 실시하고 평화, 군축 및 지속 가능한 발전과 같은 기타 글로벌 이슈에 대한 커리큘럼을 개발 중이다. 평화 보트(Peace Boat)는 동북아 지역 무력 충돌 방지를 위한 파트너십 협약(GPPAC) 사무국으로, 가와사키는 GPPAC 동북아 지역 협력 과정의 일환으로 한국, 일본, 중국, 러시아, 몽골의 다양한 시민 사회 단체들과 협력하여, 2008 년부터 원자력 생존자들이 핵 위험에 대한 대중의 인식을 높이기 위해 여행하는 "핵 없는 세계를 위한 세계 항해 : 평화 보트 히바쿠샤 프로젝트" 를 추진하고 있다.
가와사키는 2010년에 부의장으로 2017 노벨 평화상 수상단체인 ICAN(International Campaign for Nuclear Weapons)을 위한 국제 캠페인에 가입했으며 현재까지 평화 보트를 위한 ICAN의 ISG(International Steering Group) 회원으로 활동하고 있다.
Mr. Akira Kawasaki is a member of International Steering Group of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). He is also an Executive Committee member of Peace Boat, a Tokyo-based international NGO in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, working for peace, sustainable development and human rights.
Currently at Peace Boat since 2003, Kawasaki practices peace education with the Peace Boat Global University program and is developing curriculua on peace, disarmament and other global issues such as sustainable development. Peace Boat is serving as the Northeast Asia Regional Secretariat of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), and Kawasaki takes part in the coordination of GPPAC Northeast Asian regional process in partnership with wide range of civil society organizations from Japan, China, Korea, Mongolia and Russia. Since 2008, Kawasaki also coordinates “Global Voyage for a Nuclear-Free World: Peace Boat Hibakusha Project” that the atomic-bomb survivors travel around the world to raise public awareness on nuclear danger.
Kawasaki joined International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), a recipient of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize, as a Vice Chair in 2010 and continues to serve as an International Steering Group (ISG) member of the ICAN for Peace Boat to date.
