동아시아의 지속가능한 평화를 위한 한일 관계의 재구축

With the historical conflict between Korea and Japan becoming the new normal, the 1965 system is now at a crossroads. Amid efforts to reconstruct bilateral relations, Korea and Japan are facing a critical juncture to choose whether to refine or fundamentally revise the 1965 system. At the same time, efforts to reestablish Korea-Japan relations are needed to run parallel with the peace-building attempts at overcoming the division of the Korean peninsula and US-China rivalry.
This session will explore ways to reconstruct the relationship between Korea and Japan, which has been on a downward spiral due to historical issues, from the perspective of building sustainable peace in East Asia. Renowned experts from Korea and Japan will be invited to discuss the common norms, values and cooperation agenda the two countries should advance in the years ahead to foster reconciliation through peacemaking efforts.
