2018 평창올림픽과 평화 공공외교

The peace process on the Korean peninsula, which started at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, is facing new challenges and opportunities with the inauguration of the Biden administration in the United States in 2021. At the same time, a series of the upcoming Olympics in three countries in Northeast Asia, namely, the delayed Tokyo Summer Olympics (July 2021), Beijing Winter Olympics (Feb. 2022) and Gangwon Youth Winter Olympics (Feb. 2024) pose another challenges and opportunities for public diplomacy on peace in South Korea. The session aims to assess the outcome of the 3 PyeongChang Peace Forums (PPFs) since 2019 in order to identify the tasks of public diplomacy on peace and the Olympics in the future. It also seeks the roles and prospects of public diplomacy on peace and the Olympics by a local government such as the PyeongChang municipality, which is one of the co-organizers of the PPF.
