탄소중립 실현을 위한 분산에너지 확대 방안

“Net Zero Carbon” is on its way to becoming the global buzzword of the year. Jeju is a frontrunner in achieving carbon neutrality, having adopted its Carbon Free Island 2030 Policy since 2012. As a result, renewables now account for 16.2% of Jeju’s total energy generation. This puts Jeju in phase 3 of IEA’s categorization of RE integration alongside leading countries in renewable energy. As the shares of renewable and distributed generation increase, Jeju is beginning to face challenges such as curtailment and the imbalance between alternative and existing energy systems. This session was designed based on the idea that these problems are not only limited to Jeju but are likely to affect the whole country and beyond. Speakers will discuss ways to respond to issues brought by increasing renewables, review the current status of Korea’s power system, and exchange ideas on adopting a free energy market.
