Biography
As a 40 years’ career diplomat, ambassador Young-Mok Kim, since joining the Foreign Ministry in 1976, was assigned to various posts including Cote d’Ivoire, the United States, Singapore, the ROK mission to the United Nations, and the Korea Energy Development Organization (KEDO) - a multilateral consortium established in New York to deal with the North Korean Nuclear Program. He participated in negotiations with North Korea as a representative of KEDO and also of the Korean government to serve suspension of North Korea’s nuclear program and carried out projects within that framework. He served as ROK Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran and as the Consul General in New York. Mr. Kim also served as president of KOICA, the aid agency of Korea, from 2013 to 2016. He has been serving as co-president of Grace and Mercy Foundation Korea since December 2017. Grace and Mercy Korea is a non-profit foundation helping academia, NGOs, the cultural community, and the young generation, nurturing faith both in and outside Korea.
