
Biography
Jaesoo BAE was born in the Republic of Korea in 1968 and has served as the Director of the Forest Industry Division at the National Institute of Forest Science (NIFoS) since 2018. Before that, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Forest Policies from Seoul National University in 1997. From 2005 to 2010, he worked as a governmental delegation of the Republic of Korea at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), on behalf of forest fields. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as a Seconded Scientist at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), Indonesia, in charge of the NIFoS-CIFOR Cooperative research project. Also, from 2011 to 2016, he led a feasibility study on the REDD project on the west protection forest management unit (KPHL Rinjani Barat) of Indonesia, as a Principal Investigator in Lombok, Indonesia. Since 2004, he has been granted an academic writing award (2004), an academic achievement award (2005), and the Hyun Sin-Kyu academic award (2017) by the Korean Society of Forest Science, Republic of Korea.
