Biography
Jun Saito worked at the Cabinet Office (formerly Economic Planning Agency), serving as the Japanese Government’s Chief Economist during 2007-2012, the period which covered the global financial and economic crisis and the Great East-Japan Earthquake. He has also worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during 1987-1990.
He has been teaching at a number of universities including Aoyama Gakuin, Chuo, and Tokyo Universities. Most recently, he was the Project Professor at the Keio University between the years 2012-2017.
He is well recognized as an economist abroad: During the last six years, he has given speeches at the National Economists Club, the CSIS, the USJI/USAI, and the IIF in Washington D.C., as well as making presentations at seminars hosted by the IMF, the ADBI, the Bruegel, the Brookings Institution, the CEPII, and the Nissan Institute of the University of Oxford.

Jun Saito received Bachelor and Master of Economics degrees from the University of Tokyo, and also studied at the University of Oxford receiving MPhil in Economics.
