Eric Walsh (BA HON Political Science, Russian, McGill Universiry, 1994) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development in 1995. Following an assignment with the Ottawa Convention (anti-personnel mine ban treaty) negotiating team he served abroad in Ankara and Bucharest. He was also posted to Geneva as Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament and recently as Deputy Head of Mission in Berlin. In Ottawa, he has held positions as Coordinator for Middle East and North African Affairs and as Director for the East Asia and North Asia Divisions.

Mr. Walsh arrived in Seoul on February 5th, 2015 and presented his credentials to President Park Geun-hye on February 12th, 2015. He is married to Ms. Lucie Tsai.

월시 대사는 1994 년 맥길대학을 우등으로 졸업하고(정치학 학사), 1995 년에 캐나다 외교통상부에
입부하였다. 대인지뢰금지를 위한 오타와 협약 협상팀에서의 업무를 마치고, 터키 앙카라와 헝가리
부다페스트에서 근무한 후 스위스 제네바에서 참사관 및 제네바 군축회의 차석대사를
역임하였다. 오타와에서는 중동과 북아프리카 조정관, 동북아시아부의 과장으로 근무하면서 한국과
아시아지역에 대한 많은 실무 지식을 얻었다. 한국에 부임하기전 독일 주재 캐나다대사관의 공사 및
부대사를 지냈다. 월시 대사는 2015 년 2 월 5 일 한국에 부임, 청와대에 신임장을 제출하였다.
가족으로는 부인 루시 차이(Lucie Tsai) 여사가 있다.
