Biography
Mr. Kim works at the ROK JCS as Chief of the CWMD Strategy Branch. He has held several positions, including Assistant Secretary to the President for National Defense, Chief of Policy Advisory Team for ROK Air Force, and Policy Development Officer at the Office of the Defense Minister. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Florida State University and an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He taught ‘Introductory to International Relations’ and ‘Comparative Conflict in East Asia’ at Florida State University. He also taught at the Air Force Academy. His publications include “How to Deter North Korea's Military Provocations” (KJIS, 2012), “Narrow Interests and Military Resource Allocation in Autocratic Regimes” (Journal of Peace Research, 2013), “The Post-Coup Military Spending Question Revisited, 1960-2000" (International Interactions, 2013 forthcoming), The Paradox of Power Asymmetry (All Azimuth, 2016) and others.
