Biography

Prof. Sang-ki Chung had been a career diplomat for a long time. He had worked in the Korean Mission in Singapore, China, Sri Lanka, Japan, San Francisco (Consul-General), and Taipei (Representative). At home, he had worked as an Ambassador for Northeast Asian Cooperation. He also had worked as Director of Northeast Asia Division 2, Director-General of Asia and Pacific Affairs Bureau of MOFA, Deputy Secretary of Protocol to the President of ROK, and President of the National Institute for the International Education (Ministry of Education). After retirement, he had worked as a professor & Director of the Center for Chinese Studies, Korea National Diplomatic Academy. Currently, he is a “distinguished professor” of Konkuk University and Jeonju University. He has participated in the 1st inter-Korea Summit in 2000, and has been an International Visitor Fellow invited by the US State Department. He speaks fluent Chinese and Japanese.
