Biography

Kyong-Mann Jeon, born in Busan in 1951, has served for the Government as the twenty-second General Director for National Unification Education under the Ministry of National Unification. He is now the vice president of the Unification Council of Korea(UCOK) and the director of the Institute for Korean Integration of Societies(IKIS). He received a B.A. and M.A. in business administration from Seoul National University and a Ph.D in national security policy from Rand Graduate School, affiliated with Rand Corporation in the U.S.A. in 1986. After his Ph.D program at Rand, he returned to his research work at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA), where he served as the head of the division of security policy research and the center for national security strategy research, and as the vice president of the Institute up until June 2012. He served as the fourth chairman of the Korean Association of National Intelligence Studies and as the first chairman of the Korean Association of Security and International Trade. He served with his expertises as research consultant for Rand, visiting research fellow of the Atlantic Council of the US, guest commentator of Korea Broadcasting System(KBS), a member of advisory group for the Ministry of National Defense, the Presidential Aides, the National Assembly and the National Unification Advisory Council and as a chaired researcher for Korea Research Institute for National Strategy(KRINS). Dr. Jeon has authored and written more than 150 articles and research reports on national security and unification, including his publications like North Korean Nuclear Issue and DIME Measures (2010) and Mid and Long range Report on the Security of Korea(2011).
