Biography


Tong ZHAO is a Fellow at the Nuclear Policy Program of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, based at the Carnegie–Tsinghua Center for Global Policy in Beijing. His research focuses on strategic security issues, including nuclear weapons policy, arms control, nonproliferation, missile defense, space security, and China’s security and foreign policy. He was previously a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow with the Managing the Atom Project and the International Security Program at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. He has held a number of other positions, including as a nonresident WSD-Handa Fellow at Pacific Forum CSIS and working for the Office of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. He holds a PhD in science, technology, and international affairs from Georgia Institute of Technology, and received a B.S. in physics and an M.A. in international relations from Tsinghua University. He is an associate editor of the journal Science & Global Security, an editor of the Journal for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament, and a member of the Asia Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation & Disarmament.

Tong Zhao 박사는 베이징 소재 Carnegie-Tsinghua 국제 정책 센터의 핵 정책 프로그램 펠로우이다. 주된 연구분야는 핵무기 정책, 군축, 비확산, 미사일방어, 우주 안보, 중국의 안보외교 정책 등 전략적 안보 이슈이며, Harvard대 Belfer센터에서 Managing the Atom Project 및 국제안보프로그램 펠로우였다. 그 외 Pacific Forum의 비상근 WSD-Handa 펠로우, 베이징 정부 외교부에서 근무한 바 있다. 조지아 공과 대학에서 과학‧기술‧국제 문제 분야의 박사 학위를 받았고, 칭화대에서 물리학 학사와 국제 관계 석사 학위를 받았다. 또한 과학과 세계 안보 저널의 부편집위원, 평화와 핵감축 저널의 편집위원을 맡고 있으며, 핵 비확산군축 아시아‧태평양 리더쉽 네트워크의 일원이다.
