Biography
Kim Pil-Gyu was born in 1976 in Seoul, Korea. He began his career as a reporter at JoongAng Ilbo and is now the weekend anchor of JTBC’s flagship news program, Newsroom. He has vast experience covering news in various fields, working in the city, business, and politics desks. He was the chief producer of the team that launched JTBC’s Political Desk, which presented an original format for politics programs. Kim was also in charge of JTBC Newsroom’s Fact Check segment, introducing viewers in Korea to fact-check journalism. Based on this, he received the 'Good Broadcast Report of the Year' award from the Citizens’ Coalition for Democratic Media in 2015. Even today, Kim strives to do his best on his weekend broadcasts, standing by the four values of balance, fairness, dignity, and truth advocated by the JTBC President of News, Sohn Suk-hee.
