Biography

Marianne Hanson is Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Queensland. Prior to her appointment at Queensland, she was Stipendiary Lecturer in Politics at Oxford University. She has also held visiting positions at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and at Sciences Po in Paris. Her research focuses on international security, especially the role of international law and weapons control, and on international organisations, including the United Nations, the OSCE, and NATO. She gained her Masters (1990) and Doctor of Philosophy (1993) degrees from Oxford University. She has published in the field of international relations broadly, and especially in the area of arms control and nuclear weapons. She has recently submitted her manuscript to Oxford University Press on the new nuclear weapons ban-treaty, Humanitarian Disarmament: Towards the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
