Biography

Dr. HAN Fangming (韓方明), born in 1966, received his Ph.D. from Peking University and completed postdoctoral studies at Harvard University in the United States.

Dr. HAN is the Founder and Chairman of The Charhar Institute, a leading Chinese think tank specializing in public diplomacy and international relations. He was elected as a Member of the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and served three consecutive terms as Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee from 2008 to 2023.

He also serves as Vice President of the Western Returned Scholars Association, Vice Chairman of the China Overseas-Educated Scholars Development Foundation, Director of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, and Director of the National Council of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

Since 1999, Dr. HAN has held a number of senior positions within TCL Group, including Director, Executive Director, Vice Chairman, and Senior Advisor to the Board. He currently serves, under the authorization of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), as a Member of the boards of several major state-owned enterprises, including PetroChina Capital and China FAW Group.

In February 2018, the Government of the Republic of Korea awarded Dr. HAN the Heungin Medal of the Order of Diplomatic Service Merit following approval by the State Council.

In June 2021, Dr. HAN was appointed as the Chinese Chair of the Future Planning Subcommittee of the relevant bilateral committee.
