Dr. Abdulla is an accomplished expert with extensive experience in the Maldives' hospitality and tourism industry, as well as human resource development. Since 2010, he has contributed significantly to the tertiary education sector in New Zealand, serving as Director of Studies and a lecturer in tourism and management, while playing a key role in educational programme design. Holding a doctorate in Tourism and Disaster Management, he has recently overseen hotel management, global franchise quality assurance compliance, and hotel pre-opening operations, reflecting his commitment to advancing resilience and sustainability in the field. Currently, Dr. Abdulla serves as the Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation in the Maldives, where he leads national tourism policies and industry growth.
