Biography

KIM Gi-hwan is a Council Member of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council representing Ido 2-dong, Jeju City. As a Local Legislator, he has focused on building a sustainable future for Jeju through balanced approaches to environmental conservation, renewable energy transition, and regional development.

Serving on the Environment and Urban Affairs Committee, KIM has actively engaged in policy discussions on climate action, urban sustainability, environmental governance, and the coexistence of ecological preservation and economic growth. He has advocated for practical solutions that balance the expansion of renewable energy with community acceptance, environmental protection, and regional competitiveness. His legislative work also addresses youth participation, transportation, and policies that enhance the quality of life for residents.

As Vice Chair of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, KIM contributes to policy development on sustainable development and local governance. At the Jeju Forum, he will share perspectives on achieving harmony between environmental values and regional growth while strengthening resilience and sustainability in island communities facing global challenges.
