Biography

Dr. PARK Su Jin has worked as an Director of Dokdo and Ocean Legal Regime Division and senior research fellow at Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), which is a government-funded research institute under the Prime Minister’s Office. Her main research areas are climate change, marine environment, and international marine norms and policy development related to global cooperation. She is a Ph.D. in international law at the Kyung Hee University Graduate School in 2004. She has also been working on various researches about the international cooperation and multilateral agreements, including the U.N. BBNJ Agreement, the CBD, Nagoya Protocol, and the U.N. Plastics Convention text negotiations. Her recent research achievements include ‘A Study on Strengthening National Response Capacity to Transitional Global Marine Environmental Frameworks (2024)’, ‘How Will the United Nations (UN) Biological Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement Affect the Shipping Industry in the Future? (2023)’, ‘Climate change response strategy in the marine and fisheries sector to implement the Paris Agreement (2020)’, and ‘The Legal Frameworks and Relevant Issues on the Marine Protected Areas in the Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (2018)’.
