Biography

Prof. AHN Hyo Jung is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Jeju National University, Republic of Korea. Her research focuses on Physical AI for autonomous and complex systems, with particular emphasis on AI-based anomaly detection, on-device intelligence, and autonomous swarm systems in aerospace applications.
Prior to joining academia, she spent over a decade at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) as a Principal Researcher, where she led advanced research and development projects applying artificial intelligence to aerospace systems. She has also held academic positions as Associate Professor at the University of Science and Technology (UST).
Prof. AHN currently serves as an Executive Guest Editor for Acta Astronautica, an Editor for Astrodynamics, a Board Member of the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (KSAS), and the Chair of the 2026 IAA Conference on AI in and for Space (SpaceAI). She also serves as a member of an international expert review panel for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Taiwan, contributing to the evaluation of competitive research proposals. She received her Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
