CHOI Jeong Dan the Vice President at ETRI, overseeing AI and software research for autonomous vehicles and legged robots. With over 16 years of leadership in ICT-based AI robot platforms—starting as Head of the Autonomous Driving Software Group in 2009 and expanding into wheeled and legged AI robotics in 2019—she has independently developed a complete urban autonomous driving system and pioneered the deployment of autonomous driving AI on low-power AI semiconductors. Her current research focuses on Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models designed to be universally applicable across diverse AI robots, including humanoids. She was awarded the Presidential Commendation in 2023 for her contributions to AI convergence research, including the open release of robot training datasets, and served as an advisor to the Presidential Advisory Council on Science and Technology in 2017.
