KIM Jaewon joined Nikkei Asia in 2016 as the publication's first Seoul correspondent. Since then, he has covered South Korea's big conglomerates including Samsung, LG, Hyundai Motor and SK. He was given many chances to cover diverse topics and regions such as Samsung Electronics' success in developing foldable smartphones as well as troubles of the Lee family who controls the conglomerate. He was also part of Team Nikkei which covered Trump-Kim summits in Singapore in 2018 and Hanoi in 2019. Kim studied political science at Seoul National University, and Christian studies at Regent College in the University of British Columbia. He is married to Sue with four children and a Jindo puppy in Ilsan, Gyeonggi.
