AN Sungbae is a Vice President for External Affairs and Chief Economist of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). He taught at Singapore Management University before joining KIEP in 2016. His research interests lie in the area of empirical macroeconomics, especially Bayesian estimation of structural macro models, and his work has appeared in academic journals such as Econometric Reviews, American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics and PLoS One. He currently serves on the editorial board of Asian Economic Papers. He also served as a member of the President’s National Economic Advisory Council and as the editor-in-chief of East Asian Economic Review. Dr. AN received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and his M.A. and B.A. degrees in economics from Seoul National University.
