Biography

Praerung(Fern) UENNATORNWARANGGOON serves as Pacific Environment’s Climate Campaign Director where she leads the Ports for People campaign. She works with community groups, port authorities and operators, and regulators to rapidly decarbonize ports and the shipping industry. Previously, Fern worked at the Environmental Defense Fund, overseeing projects to map hyperlocal climate and air pollution in partnership with Google Earth Outreach. Fern has worked across multiple sectors including the public sector as a transportation and infrastructure policy associate in Oakland Mayor’s Office, and in the private sector as a strategic management consultant in Cambridge, UK. In addition, Fern was a program associate at the Rockefeller Foundation where she helped advance a multi-country climate resilience initiative in the Asia Pacific. Fern holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford, and a master’s degree in City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. She lives in Northern California.
