Biography

UO Masataka is the founder and CEO of the Japan Fundraising Association (JFRA), a nationwide organization promoting philanthropic giving and social impact investment in Japan. Since May 2023, JFRA has also been designated as the country representative of the AVPN. He is also the founder of Fundrex, a leading consultancy that supports over 150 nonprofits and social enterprises with strategic development, impact management, and systems consulting. A key driver in building Japan’s ecosystem for social innovation and impact, he leads initiatives in impact investing, impact measurement, philanthropic giving, fundraising strategy, family philanthropy, and legacy giving. He serves as Ambassador of the GSG Impact and the Vice Chair of the Japan National Advisory Board for GSG Impact. He is also a Trustee of JANPIA, which allocates dormant bank account funds to social impact initiatives, and serves as Vice President of Shizenkan Graduate School. Prior to founding JFRA and Fundrex, he served at the Economic Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and worked for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
