Biography

Dr. Besma BENREDJEM is the Scientist in residence/Science advisor at the Québec government in Korea where she facilitates the development of research and technological collaborations between Québec and South Korea in various fields (aerospace, advanced materials, biotechnology, AI, Smart cities, Energy Transition, Quantum Technologies, etc.). She works closely with major AI players in Québec (MILA, OBVIA, IVADO, etc.) and was involved in multiple AI missions and initiatives in Québec and in Korea focusing on different aspects of AI (such as AI safety and ethics, machine learning, AI for materials, AI for good, etc.). Dr. BENREDJEM also holds the mandate of science diplomacy and works with several Korean governmental entities to strengthen the Québec-Korea relations. A graduate of the University of Montreal, she holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and a master’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine.
