Biography

Junhee is a youth researcher part of the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UNDPPA)’s Futuring Peace in Northeast Asia initiative. She is a peace researcher and human rights advocate committed to gender justice, inclusive peacebuilding, and refugee rights. She holds a Master’s degree in United Nations Peace from the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung Hee University, where her thesis explored conflict-related sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo through a gender-based justice lens. Her work bridges academic research and grassroots engagement, centering intersectional approaches that amplify marginalized voices. Junhee has been active in legal advocacy, public education, and community organizing. She has supported refugee communities through interpretation, legal assistance, and public awareness efforts, while also contributing to peace education and youth policy initiatives. She has presented on topics such as youth participation in peacebuilding, Korean unification, and conflict prevention, sharing insights shaped by both field experience and scholarly research. Her approach is grounded in the belief that sustainable peace must be built through inclusive dialogue, empathy, and justice-driven practices that reflect the realities of affected communities.
