Biography
In her work as both researcher and lecturer, Sandra MEERWEIN investigates questions at the intersection of Environmental Humanities and Ocean Governance. In an interdisciplinary manner, her broad yet flexible approach allows her to adapt specific cases to the complexity and multiple layers that characterize the dynamics of maritime and environmental security. Valuing the real-life application of ideas, Sandra MEERWEIN continuously aims at framing her research in interaction with practitioners from various fields of society, government, military, industry and science. This includes the collaboration and exchange with government and research institutions like the U.S.’s DKI Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation’s Ocean Policy Research Institute, and the Korea Institute for Maritime Strategy. The perspectives found in such exchanges continue to shape the efforts of her work to enhance feasible and efficient approaches to institutional and international cooperation policies and action-taking that deal with environmental and maritime security issues.
