Biography
Nantida SUTUMMAWONG is a lecturer in the Department of Forest Biology, Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University, Thailand. She specializes in avian biodiversity and island ecosystems, focusing on the diversity, density, and distribution of hornbills in Thailand. Her research integrates scientific studies with community-based conservation and education initiatives. Since 2021, Nantida has participated in the International Ecological School Camp, engaging with young ecologists across the Asia-Pacific region. She is actively involved in mangrove restoration, agroforestry, and biodiversity conservation projects in Thailand. She also contributes to environmental education by developing interdisciplinary curricula that incorporate forestry, environmental science, and digital tools like GIS and remote sensing. Her dedication to fostering youth engagement in conservation is reflected in her development of a course on Introduction to Biodiversity Conservation for international students in Wildlife and Nature Reserve Management. She actively supports long-term ecological studies through the International Ecology School for Asia-Pacific Island Youth, promoting field-based learning, collaborative research, and capacity-building for young ecologists to address conservation challenges in island and coastal ecosystems.
