Biography

Ms. KIM was appointed as the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representation in the Republic of Korea on 1 August 2024. She has worked in the UN system for over 20 years. Prior to joining UNHCR, she worked with UNICEF in China 2020-2024 as the Senior Advisor and Chief of Public Partnerships, leading and managing UNICEF’s partnership with China to support achievement towards child-centered SDGs in developing countries. During 2016-2020, she served as UNFPA’s Partnerships Advisor for China and the Republic of Korea, and between January to August 2019, she was the Chief ad interim of the UNFPA Seoul Office. In addition, she worked in various positions in UNICEF at Headquarters, India Country Office and Office for Japan and the Republic of Korea. Ms. KIM is a national of the Republic of Korea. She holds a B.A. in History from Peking University and M.A. in International Area Studies from Korea University.
