Biography
Dato’ Mohd Zamruni KHALID arrived in Seoul, Republic of Korea in April 2024 to assume his assignment as the Ambassador of Malaysia in the Republic of Korea. A career diplomat, he joined the Malaysian Foreign Service in 1992 as Assistant Director at the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department. In 1994, he was appointed to the Administrative and Diplomatic Service of Malaysia, serving in various roles including Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and later as Second Secretary at the Malaysian Embassies in Hanoi (1996) and Paris (2000). His career progressed with senior roles, including Special Officer to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002) and Principal Assistant Secretary (2006). He served as Consul General in New York (2008), Deputy Director General for ASEAN External Relations (2011), and ASEAN Political-Security Community (2015). In 2016, he became Malaysia’s Ambassador to Vietnam and in 2019, he became the Director General of Institute of Diplomacy & Foreign Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He then, was appointed as Ambassador to France (2021). Dato’ Mohd Zamruni holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Politics from the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) in Paris and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Accounting from Purdue University, USA. He is married to To’ Puan Arfah Nadiah Ahmad.
