Biography

Dr. JOO Hyung Mi currently serves as the Vice President of the Future School Education Research Division at the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE), a national research institute for elementary and secondary education in Korea. Since 2006, Dr. Joo has conducted various policy research projects in the areas of curriculum, teaching and learning, and educational evaluation at KICE. She has played a leading role in national curriculum development and research, most recently serving as the team leader for the development of the 2022 Revised English Curriculum. She has also been involved in the development and authorization of elementary and secondary school textbooks, as well as in future education research and policy initiatives aimed at applying the national curriculum in schools. In addition, Dr. JOO serves as aion committee member for the Ministry of Education, overseeing theion and operation of Autonomous Public High Schools (similar to Charter Schools in the U.S.), a key government policy for promoting local educational development.
