Biography

LEE Hyunduck is a neighborhood builder and design entrepreneur who is redefining how architecture can shape urban life. As the founder and CEO of Laundryproject, a Seoul-based neighborhood-rooted laundry café brand, he has spent the past decade designing and operating unique spaces in places like Haebangchon, Seogyo-dong, and Deungchon, where local identity, building reuse, and spatial storytelling are deeply interwoven. Trained in urban architecture and educated in social entrepreneurship at KAIST Business School (MBA in Social Enterprise), Hyunduck Lee combines spatial sensitivity with business acumen. His design philosophy is centered on creating architecture that responds to local memory, micro-economy, and everyday human rhythm, rather than generic commercial templates. He is regarded as a leading voice in neighborhood-scale architecture and the culture of small, character-rich businesses. In addition to running Laundryproject, he is currently working on a book that explores the power of building communities through place-based design, reflecting on his decade-long journey as both architect and entrepreneur.
