Biography

LEE Yong Sang is a professor at Woosong University. He previously served as the Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation and as President of the Korean Society for Railway. He is currently the Chairman of the Korea Railway Culture Foundation and also serves as Vice President of the Korea Hydrogen Tram Forum. He has conducted research as a visiting professor at the University of Oxford, Kansai University in Japan, and the International Research Center for Japanese Studies. His academic specialization is the history of railways in East Asia. He has authored books on the history and development of Korean railways, Japanese railways, and Chinese railways. In recognition of his research, he received the JR Freight Outstanding Paper Award in Japan. He is currently participating in an international joint research project titled “Transportation and Mission in East Asia.” He continues to conduct comparative studies on East Asian railways and plans to publish a book on the comparative history of railways in East Asia. Through this work, he hopes to contribute to transportation cooperation and mutual exchange in the region.
