Biography

Mr. Bong-hyun Kim passed the High Diplomatic Service Examination in 1982. In 2000, he served as the Director of United Nations Division, MOFAT. Mr. Bong-hyun Kim served in the office of the President of the UNGA as an advisor to the President from 2001 to 2002.

He served as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations and thereafter became Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs, MOFAT in 2011.

He also served as Sherpa for the Nuclear Security Summit held in Seoul in 2012 in his capacity as Deputy Minister.

He was appointed in 2013 as Ambassador to Australia and served until May 2016.

After retirement, he became President of the Jeju Peace Institute and hosted Jeju Forum twice in 2019 and 2020. He joined the Ban Ki-moon Foundation in December 2020.
